Volunteer Training
Wildlife Victoria is pleased to offer two ways to join our network of volunteers helping native wildlife: online transport training, and in-person rescue & transport training.
Read on to decide which role is the best fit for you, and how to register.
Transport training (online)
What does it mean to be a transporter?
Transporters move contained wildlife between vet clinics and wildlife carers. This is a great option for anyone who wants a less hands-on role, and many find it a good introduction to wildlife before becoming a rescuer.
How to register for online tranport training
-
Watch the video below, to see whether wildlife transport is for you. (8 mins)
-
Follow the link below to register and pay $15 for our online training course. (10 mins)
-
Once you have registered and paid, Volunteer Services will send you a confirmation email and log in details, along with other information about compliance and a Police Check.
Note that registrations are processed on weekdays (not weekends and public holidays) so may take a few days.

Rescue & Transport training (in-person)
What does it mean to be a rescuer & transporter?
Rescue and transport volunteers attend to injured, sick, or orphaned native animals. They assess the situation and then (if needed) capture, contain, and transport the animal to a vet.
To be a rescuer you will need to be comfortable handling wild animals and liaising with members of the public. You must be 18 years or over and have access to a registered vehicle.
