Vice-President: Sue SamphierNew Committee Member
History and involvement with Wildlife and Wildlife Victoria Sue has been involved with Wildlife Victoria for almost two years now. Sue is a Wildlife foster carer in the Eastern suburbs and has just completed the nationally accredited Wildlife Emergency Response course to be a Team Leader for Wildlife Victoria when and where needed.
Sue is the Regional Co-ordinator Role for the Eastern suburbs, her mandate is to work towards networking all transporters, rescuers, foster carers and shelters. Sue would also like to become a Widllife Shelter in the near future.
As a the new Vice President I hope to be able to represent a number of different areas that I am involved in with wildlife and also bring a fresh approach that will represent many Members ideas by staying in touch with current members in my area and in the field working with wildlife.

I also helped answer questions on the Victorian Frog Group web site as well as being actively involved at both The Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary Frog week for several years. I represented and spoke for The Victorian Frog Group at The National frog Group conference in Adelaide in 2002.
I love speaking to community groups and have developed and run educational wildlife talks for schools and local community groups and have a passion for all wildlife.
Personal I have been married to Darren for 29 years and have two married daughters and a granddaughter.
Treasurer: Peter VaughanNew Committee Member
History and involvement with wildlife and Wildlife Victoria Rescuer since February 2009 (Bushfires) Treasurer since the 2009 AGM Disaster Response Team Leader Has performed countless bushfire searches and animal rescues since Feb 2009 As many have realised the WV organisation is a beast of an entirely different nature to that of the WV of this time last year. It is evident to me that the organisation must be viewed as a living breathing business rather than just another Not-for-Profit organisation especially when reputations, substantial public donation funds and the livelihoods of the WV employees are at stake. Above all the organisation’s business mentality must be improved to enable us to continue being the backbone of wildlife and animal welfare in Victoria.
I’m one for quick, decisive decisions and actions and people who give lip-service (going to’s, will do’s, will do it next month) with no follow though frustrate me. With that said, I will not make a decision without being well informed with accurate information. (That’s the accountant in me).

Rob MasciaNew Committee Member
History and involvement with Wildlife and Wildlife Victoria Rob joined Wildlife Victoria, with his wife, in April this year as a rescuer and carer. They are currently looking after ringtail possums.
Rob hopes that in his role as a committee member he can direct the organisation to provide more support and guidance for the volunteer services, such as rescuing and caring, within WV. Being new to Wildlife Victoria, he understands what the needs are for new volunteer members. He also hopes to help improve communication and transparency and ensure more responsibility and accountability in the organisation.
Professional background/experience Rob has a Computer Science Degree and has mainly worked within IT.
He currently works for a Victorian state government department which he joined as a business analyst but has since moved to project management.

Liz HunterReturning Committee Member
History and involvement with Wildlife and Wildlife Victoria Liz has been involved with wildlife since childhood when her house was filled with sick/orphaned wildlife as her mother rehabbed anything from gliders to koalas.
Liz has been a rescuer and transporter with WV for just over two years now. Last year she attended every course available to learn more and more...everything from Anne Fowler's burns and bird workshops to Manfred's fireground rescue and rescuing wildlife workshops. She also completed the VUT course units of rehabilitation of wildlife and Caring for young animals. Liz has completed her BWA online which enabled her to assist in the 2009 fires. Liz spent time at Woodend, Whittlesea and Daylesford during the fires and was involved in fireground rescue as well as doing Admin work on the Staging grounds.
Professional background/experience Liz is currently Office Manager for Plantic Technologies which is an amazing Australian company that is researching and developing 100% biodegradable plastic polymers made from non genetically modified corn starch. A plastic that completely dissolves with no harmful residues into the ground in ten days with the help of earthworms! Liz loves her job and is constantly learning new things especially when assisting with IT support and website maintenance.
Previous to that Liz spent eight years in Event Staffing at Telstra Dome/Etihad Stadium though her work background was originally catering! She has owned a Restaurant and a Roadhouse.
Personal Liz is married with four children with only one child left at home now and he is 15 and taller than her!
Liz enjoys photography (landscapes and infrared in particular....combining both is unique and rewarding.)
She also loves to travel, read books and has several websites that she has built and maintains.
Liz is an avid wildlife book/magazine collector and has over 200 books on Australian wildlife and is still collecting! Her particular interest is in researching possum and glider nutrition.
Liz does not like housework ... she maintains that it takes time away from all her other interests and that she would rather spend time collecting 5 different types of browse for her possums than dust!

Ian has been a volunteer with the RSPCA for 10 years and only recently resigned after serving 2 years as a Director of Wildlife In a Secure Environment, (WISE) Trust Inc which also owns and operates The Haven Wildlife Sanctuary in Yea. He has been a volunteer with Animals Australia for several years and is a member of their action network and response teams.

Ian is currently a Director of Mergents Pty Ltd which is a telecommunications consulting firm specialising in mergers and acquisitions. He has also been a share market investor/trader for almost 10 years.
Emma CashNew Committee Member History and involvement with Wildlife and Wildlife Victoria As a foster carer under the guidance of the Ashburton Wildlife Shelter, in the past 12 months I have taken the plunge into operating my own wildlife shelter based in the foothills of the Mt Dandenong’s. My shelter predominantly rehabilitates orphaned mammals from sugar gliders to eastern grey kangaroos and everything in between; it is not uncommon to have seven or eight babies on the go at any one time. My involvement with Wildlife Victoria is relatively recent, only being part of the organisation for three years as a wildlife rehabilitator, bushfire and heat stress responder. My goal as a Wildlife Victoria committee member is to enhance the cohesion of transporters, foster carers, shelter operators and local vets to provide the ability of networking and resource sharing to enable more efficient care of native wildlife in rehabilitation. Background and Skills I have a Bachelor of Animal Science with Honours majoring in Zoology and I am currently completing PhD studying the effect of captivity on the behaviour of the Mountain Pygmy Possum, one of the most endangered mammals in Australia. I also have a Certificate III in Captive Animals from Victoria University. I work part time as a zookeeper with Zoos Victoria and have previously worked at the Australian Wildlife Hospital as a veterinary keeper. When not working with animals, I am a skater and coach at the Victorian Skating Centre and part of the Artistic Skating Victoria Executive Committee holding the position of Development Co-ordinator.
Fiona RowleyReturning Committee Member
History and involvement with Wildlife and Wildlife Victoria Fiona has volunteered with other animals welfare organisations and was amazed how little support there is for our native animals.
Fiona has been involved with Wildlife Victoria, for about 4-5 years as a rescuer and has just become a shelter this year.
Fiona has varied experience in wildlife rescue scenarios, particularly suburban rescues. She lives in an area that is undergoing major development and it is heavily impacting on the lives and habitats of local wildlife.
Fiona is also involved in a number of local Working Groups with representatives from DSE, council etc and is trying to work towards preventing alot of the rescue scenarios she has to attend.
Fiona is hopeful that we can sort through the governance and operational issues and get things running smoothly. She is a big advocate for involving members in the functions of the organisation and would like to see more members being involved in Working Groups. Her view is that WV is a member based organisation and she is really keen to hear how decisions impact members. Fiona would also like to see an improvement on how we communicate throughout the organisation, in particular with our members.
Fiona would also like to create more opportunities to support rescuers, carers and shelters. Fiona notes that there are areas across the state that have very few rescuers, carers and shelters and she would like to increase our volunteers in these areas as well as encourage more networking of local volunteers.
Fiona is also one of those people who like things presented in terms of statistics and like to make informed decisions based on all the information at hand, Fiona likes to have matters presented a proposal so she can weigh up all the elements.
Professional background/experience BA in Social Sciences - majoring in Legal Studies and Diploma in Business Administration
Personal Fiona is working 2 jobs, attending as many meetings to help wildlife as possible, keeping on top of the CoM emails, rescue and care for animals, keep the house clean, the husband happy and somewhere in between having time to go shopping (Fiona loves her clothes & shoes) and having some sort of life.
