Acknowledgement to Outback Zack PDF Print

Wildlife Victoria would like to acknowledge Zack Heart who plays the role of Outback Zack, for helping Wildlife Victoria following the devastating bushfires.

Outback Zack first came on the scene in 2004 helping animals and hosting the Outback Zack Travel Show. Outback Zack, reappeared in the Outback Zack's Australian Animal Fire Victims Appeal. The 1hr television special was written, produced, hosted and funded by the Wildlife Conservationist and Australian television personality. The appeal was dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the wildlife and domestic animals rescued and in need of medical help during Australia's worst recorded bush fires in 2008. The fires burned approximately 1,100,00 acres and it is estimated that millions of animals perished. Heart directed funds raised from the programs airings in Australia and the USA to Wildlife Victoria. The appeal raised an estimated $500,000 US Dollars. Outback Zack was instrumental throughout the talk show, interviewing special guests; David Tree, the firefighter made famous by the photo whereby giving Sam the Koala, a drink from a water bottle;  Manfred Zabinskas from Wildlife Victoria; Michael Johnson and a yellow bellied glider from Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park; and Australian Emergency Veterinarian Coordinator, Elaine Ong.

We would like to thank all those involved in the production and a very special thank you to Zack Heart aka Outback Zack for creating this wonderful appeal and his generous contribution to Wildlife Victoria.
