We wanted to raise $15,000 to help rebuild the Gembrook Wildlife Shetler which was burnt down, with your support we have raised an amazing $17,440 which will go directly to Helen, the volunteer who runs this integral community service.

Wildlife Victoria was saddened by the news that the Gembrook Wildlife Shelter was  devastated by fire.  The shelter was totally destroyed and very sadly up to 20 of our native wildlife that were undergoing rehabilitation, and a number of domestic, companion animals were lost in the blaze along with our shelter operator's home.

helenOur hearts and thoughts go out to the shelter operator Helen and her family at this time.  Wildlife Victoria is ensuring that Helen has support and resources to continue caring for the menagerie of other creatures that were unharmed.

Following the news of this terrible event, Wildlife Victoria's Rescue Vehicle was immediately dispatched with a full load of supplies to help Helen.  The local wildlife network also raced to help out with an excellent spirit of cooperation and support.  Some of Helen's creatures are now being cared for by neighbouring wildlife shelters, however some are still in Helen's care at her property.

Helen is keen to move back as soon as possible and Wildlife Victoria are seeking a caravan for her to use until her home is rebuilt.

Wildlife Victoria has set up a fundraising appeal for the shelter and all money raised from this campaign will go directly to support the Gembrook Wildlife Shelter.  If you would like to support Helen as she rebuilds her home and her shelter then please go to our donations page and select  'Gembrook Wildlife Shelter Appeal'.
