A tricky, sticky situation for a kangaroo
What is the kangaroo equivalent of a human grabbing biscuits in a jar and not being able to pull your hand out?
Recently a call came in to our Emergency Phone about a kangaroo with his head inside a plastic bag. As it turns out the plastic was a guard for new plants - but it was no guard against this hungry kangaroo who put his head right in to nibble the grass but when extricating himself came out with more than he bargained for. As he could not see, the plastic caused the kangaroo to panic, especially if he bumped into something, and he was quite terrified with the noise of the plastic when it rained. Someone noticed his plight and rang our Emergency Phone Operators who dispatched a trained rescuer who then called in a darter to help this kangaroo. A very short time later after a 'tranquil' sleep the unlucky roo awoke without the plastic bag and neither thanked or even gave his rescuers a second glance - which nobody holds against him. |
