11 August 2011: Wildlife Victoria representatives attended the official opening of the new Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre at Phillip Island Nature Parks on Thursday 11 August 2011.

Phillip Island Nature Parks, a member of Wildlife Victoria, in conduction with the Penguin Foundation have developed an impressive, world class facility which has the capacity to care for up to 1500 Little Penguins in the event of an oil spill. The centre is also equipped to care and rehabilitate other injured wildlife on Phillip Island.  1._Pool_1__enclosures

Wildlife Victoria was very proud to have our Patron Rob Gell as the MC for the day (pictured right).

Wildlife Victoria would like to congratulate all involved on a fantastic result. We certainly hope that the centre will not need to be used at its full capacity; however we find comfort in knowing such a facility now exists in Victoria should the terrible need arise.
