VIDEO: Wildlife Victoria Responds to Grampians Fires
Thursday, 18 February 2010 10:57
On the anniversary of the devastating 2009 bushfires in Victoria, Wildlife Victoria acknowledges and remembers those who lost their lives on that day.
Wildlife Victoria had many members and volunteers deeply affected by loss of family, friends and also homes and wild creatures they were caring for. We also want to take time to remember all the wild animals who lost their lives on that day.
The inspiring story of one bushfire survivor, Matilda the Koala brings us hope for the future and a little joy in one success story. To find out more about Matilda's story click here.
On the anniversary of this terrible event Wildlife Victoria's amazing volunteers are once again searching and rescuing injured wildlife in fire affected areas. For over two weeks now Wildlife Victoria Search and Rescue teams have been in the Grampians searching for and rescuing injured animals. See below to see our dedicated volunteers in action. (Video courtesy of Richard Brown - Underwater Video Productions.) *This video shows footage of injured animals that may be distressing to people.
